Reinvention OS

Welcome back

Good to see you, Jane.

Here is where your reinvention stands today.

For every reinvention
This process is asking you to do the same kind of leadership work you’ve done for organizations: name reality, make meaning from complexity, decide what matters, and move with intention.
For where you are right now
A next chapter built from discernment will be stronger than one built from panic, even if the pace feels slower than you’d like.

Tool 1 · Reset

Confidence Reset

Start here. Get an honest read on where you stand before you try to move.

Current-state summary

Laid off / role eliminated is the plain fact of where things stand. Underneath it, the feeling described as “anxious and a little scattered” is doing more to shape the search right now than the calendar is. There is real runway, enough to be deliberate if that time gets used well instead of spent on scattered activity.

Transition type

Involuntary exit, identity-linked

Emotional reset reflection

The fear named here, “That I’ve aged out of being taken seriously for the next big role, and that I’ll have to take something smaller just to make it stop,” is common among people who led at a high level and then had the ground move without warning. Naming it plainly is the useful first step, because an unnamed fear tends to run a search quietly in the background. On what happened: “My VP role was eliminated in a re-org four months ago. I still don’t have a clean explanation for what happened, and that’s the part that keeps replaying.” That account deserves to be settled internally before it gets rehearsed for a hiring manager.

Immediate next steps

  • Write a two-sentence answer to “what happened” that is honest, brief, and does not apologize for a decision that was not yours to make.
Tool 2 · Positioning

Professional Narrative Builder

Turn twenty years of experience into a story the market can actually use.

Value themes

Brand recovery under real pressure Building teams that outlast the person who built them Turning data into decisions leadership will actually act on

Personal positioning statement

Builds marketing organizations that hold up under pressure and rebuilds trust once a brand has been damaged, without losing sight of the people doing the work.

60-second intro

I have spent the last two decades building and repairing marketing organizations, most recently as SVP Marketing. My focus has always been the moment when a brand’s credibility is on the line, whether that is a product recall, a stalled launch, or a team that has lost confidence in its own direction. I am looking for a CMO, VP Growth, VP Brand Strategy seat where that kind of steady, structural thinking is genuinely needed.

Resume summary starter

Marketing executive with two decades of experience building and repairing brand trust at scale. Known for turning around damaged brands, building teams, and translating data into a story executives will act on. Currently focused on CMO, VP Growth, VP Brand Strategy opportunities where marketing is treated as a driver of the business, not a cost to manage.

Tool 3 · Career Assets

Resume Reinventer

Rebuild around relevance and evidence, not chronology.

Plain text (.txt) loads straight into the field below. For PDF or Word files, we’ll note the filename, please also paste the text below so every line gets read.

Resume critique

  • “Results-driven marketing executive with 20+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and driving revenue growth across multiple industries.” reads like a template. It could belong to almost anyone with the same job title, which means it is not doing the one job a resume summary has: making the reader want the next line.
  • There is no number, no brand name, no evidence anywhere in it. Evidence is what separates a resume that gets a callback from one that gets filed.

ATS & formatting critique

  • Avoid tables, text boxes, and multi-column layouts. Applicant tracking systems frequently misread them and drop content a human reviewer never sees.
  • Use the exact job titles and skill terms from the posting where they are true. A close paraphrase can miss an ATS keyword match that an identical phrase would have passed.
  • One consistent date format throughout (Month Year, Month Year), and no gaps left unexplained by a line of context.

Summary / profile rewrite

Marketing executive who rebuilds brand trust and marketing organizations under pressure, most recently leading a full recovery of consumer confidence after a category-defining product recall. Seeking a Chief Marketing Officer role where brand credibility and revenue growth are treated as the same problem.

What makes a strong entry

Name what you did, what changed because of it, and a number when one exists: percentage, dollar figure, headcount, or timeframe. An empty category below is information, not a failure. It tells you exactly where to look for evidence you already have but haven’t written down yet.

Coverage across categories

  • Only one entry in Leadership Impact, Recognition & Feedback, Problem Solving, Team & People Development. A single data point is fragile in an interview; a second example gives you a choice depending on the question.

Entries that could use a number

  • Named to an industry “Marketers to Watch” list: strong story, and it would land harder in a resume bullet with a percentage, dollar figure, headcount, or timeframe attached.
